The American Dental Association recommends that you replace your toothbrush about every three to four months. Our dentist and team are here if you need advice on picking the toothbrush that best suits your needs.

Toothbrush Head

Your toothbrush’s head should be small so that it easily reaches all areas of your mouth. The bristles of the toothbrush should be soft, or even extra soft. Toothbrushes with medium or hard bristles could potentially damage your tooth enamel. Choose the shape of your toothbrush head based on your individual preference.

Toothbrush Handle

There are different types of toothbrush handles available. You may select a non-slip grip handle, a handle with a flexible neck, or whatever meets your preferences. The best toothbrush is one that you will use with ease.

Manual vs. Electronic

As far as choosing whether to use a manual or electronic toothbrush, either type of toothbrush can effectively clean your teeth if used correctly. An electronic toothbrush may be preferable if you have difficulty brushing, if you tend to scrub your teeth, or if you have limited manual dexterity.
